Thyself Be Known

Be still and know ... but still be. After all
religions and philosophies have shown
their angles on eternity, the wall
remains, obscuring that which can't be known.
Stand whole, clutching the little truth you've found.
Remember lifetimes pass, and gifted men,
yet drowning in distraction's grip, abound.
For your quest to know grace, just say 'amen'.
No one knows where or how the soul drifts past
the mists of death. This time on earth was meant
to sculpture self to pass into the vast
unknown, warped views corrected for ascent.
A wise man, it is, who comprehends how
he'll not be deader than, he is right now.
