Teacher

Not For, but By our sins, are we chastised.
It's wrong to think a distant god defiles
our hopes and dreams, by virtue He despised
our missing of some mark. The awful trials
we undergo are lessons that we learn
to spend more time in thought before we jump.
Each burn and bump is knowledge that we earn
to thwart some future arrow in the rump.
A man is not a drone with brain to shun
all shades of gray, alert for riskless ways,
to stay beyond all shadows, in the sun,
incessantly correct, and past all frays.
Through blunder's bang and bash, we mark what's true,
and after, shed delusive mental goo.
