Sinner 1

My neighbor saw a photograph he swears
was genuine. Above the blasted heap
in OKC, in clouds, an angel wears
a tragic face, with eyes that seem to weep.
Three hundred thousand times Iraqis die.
No angel in their clouds has shed one tear.
A thoughtful man is forced to wonder why
a loving God so hates the children here.
What mental sludge has fouled the blades of thought
that logic doesn't neuter sappy dreams?
Malpractice of the intellect has brought
to bloom, the right-wing Yankee mullah's schemes.
Sobriety of spiritual belief
Distinguishes the sinner from the thief.
