Pilgrim

Though men are pilgrims all, some stray. Decreed
by granite laws some balk to recognize,
by journey's end, all seekers should be freed
of arrogance and greed, violence and lies.
Living through Virtue, all men will succeed.
But slackers scan the Earth with pirate's eyes,
resisting any change whose move denies
their urge to own it all. Ethics and grace
have never brimmed the chakras of their being,
while charity and love leave not a trace
of bliss behind. Now, with no way of seeing
transcendent truths, they're in a mobius race.
The hitch is that they'll stand before their Source,
and prove how they ran rings round Karma's course.
