Fire the Parson

Religion seeks to boost the moral side
of men who live long lives without a clue
(nor do they care) about what's truely true.
Church captains preach right scripture, locked in stride
with dogma certifird by Council Law.
Eternity has mysteries that wait
for those amazed, in wonderment and awe,
and yearnings to unlatch it's mystic gate.
For certain souls, a Sunday sermon fails.
The call to consciousness and higher mind
is insistent, worth suffering travails.
The pure joy of one's spirit, unconfined,
not subject to fixed rituals and rites,
revivifies the quest to rouse and raise
one's soul above earth's dust, to where the lights
of inner heaven promise brighter days.
