'God is Life', Tolstoy said, and not a stern
and distant king concerned with herding men
away from that for which their passions yearn.
Nor dotes He on religion's chattel pen
of barrelfish, with answered prayers for each.
Men soul-blind to the Great Divine, are those
whom by their Being's void, can serve to teach
all selves who seek, to shun the path they chose.
Outside the human realm, Truth can't be known,
but something vast, transcending psyche's sense,
attends when self is silent and alone,
With strength and grace, both deathless and immense.
The atoms dance and galaxies freewheel.
Within a man, Eternity Is Real!
