I was surprised to learn that lions don't know
that hunting upwind of the beasts they'd eat
tips off those faster hooves, and treats the slow
and baffled cats to dinnertime defeat.
Four of five prey-stalkings end in naught.
They hunt in prides, more cats insure a kill,
but what a cost! Omitting this one thought
can find a hungry pride at midnight still
in search of supper's blood. Now, people miss
deliverance, enlightenment, and more
with gaps in their assumptions much like this.
I hope my life won't end a hungry roar.
So many times the natural world portrays
a parable to light self's hidden ways.
