Blind Mirror

It's strange that 'good Americans' avow
They've Christian love for family, and yet
Wax glassy eyed with pride announcing how
The boys in uniform, with tank and jet
Obliterated fifty thousand men
Who impudently rose to home's defense.
Unstung by shame, they know their own children
Still have a dad and mom and innocence.
How dare they pray! What god applauds the gore
And grief they cause while citing love for law?
From rich safe homes, their leaders made a war
Where honor cried and died, and no one saw.
I'd like to know beyond their voyeur's thrill
just what they think is meant, "Thou shalt not kill."
