Absolution

As virtue goes, forgiveness is the jewel.
No other action stays the archer's bow.
Earth's history of treachery is cruel,
And bountiful, by hand of friend and foe.
Forgiving men their trespass is more task
Than basking in forgivness offered forth.
The energy to shed the wrathful mask,
Ignites the light to true direction North.
Too late for prayer or hope, before blood flows,
Heaven's grace comes often wide of mark.
Forgiving God when night's most dire and dark
High water marks the mind that knows it knows.
One gift the universe bestows to all-
A man can change his wisdom's final call.
